Abstract Biobarrier combines the adsorption and biodegradation processes which are carried out simultaneously. This method can increase rate of contaminant reduction, reduce toxicity extend life activated carbon. study aims to evaluate characteristics benzene toluene on granular carbon (GAC). The ratio in expanded bed fixed determines operating conditions process experiment. results showed that GAC was distributed micropore mesopore regions with a pore diameter 15 Å 23 Å. molecular diameters for 5.285 5.72 Å, respectively, fit pores. capacity be represented well using Freundlich equation. Freundlich’s constants Kf = 17.87 (1/n 0.46) 25.88 0.45).
